Our body metabolism works on the food we eat. More than the food we eat, it’s the emotions that are associated with the food that play a pivotal role in determining our Mental State. Till now, our only focus was on quality of food intake, packaging etc. but our ancient scriptures talk of the emotions linked to the food intake which is more important than the quality of food. In fact, quality of food does not just refer to whether the food is fresh or stale or with regards to shelf life. It also refers to the intentions of the person preparing the food. That’s why Concept of Conscious Eating is Important. While we take food whether it is during the day or after hectic daily activities, we do multitasking. At one hand we watch TV, we also talk to family members during meal & also are full of various kinds of thoughts. Means we are hardly conscious of taking food. It’s said, जैसा अन्न, वैसा मन and अन्नम ब्रह्म. It’s not that the food is just food but we are in union with the entire Universe as every single grain of food is just a miniature manifestation of BRAHM – The Ultimate. Buddha says, Be Mindful when you Eat, when you think or when you walk.
